Workforce

What is Workforce?

The workforce, also referred to as the labor force, encompasses all individuals who are either employed or actively seeking employment. This term can describe the employees of a specific organization or sector, as well as the workers within a broader geographic area, such as a city, state, or nation.

Workforce Overview

The significance of a business or economy is often tied to its “Workforce in Place”, representing the active contributors to productivity. The labor force includes both employed individuals and those who are unemployed but actively seeking work. The labor force participation rate measures the percentage of people engaged in or seeking employment relative to their demographic group.

While the term "workforce" traditionally applies to manual laborers, it may also extend to anyone actively looking for a job, excluding employers or higher-level managers in many contexts.
